After a test run and some mixing tweaks, Ba.Ren.Chi’s “Oh Say Can You” went live on Spotify, iTunes, Apple Music, Deezer, Tidal, Amazon Music Streaming, and some other platforms I don’t remember about a month ago. Then I started making changes. I don’t think I quite understood the song before. It was angrier than I intended or wanted. Anger does not generally lead to good art in my experience.
I am sorry that Teco Apple, Improvisando Radio, and Sword Radio in the UK promised shares and broadcasts of the old version, while Tercer Parlante asked for a press kit, which I provided, though, thankfully, I don’t think they’ve published anything yet.
I paused it on Jamendo first, and now I’m putting a pause on all the streaming platforms. But because I can make quick changes to Soundcloud and upload the latest version, I’ve done that, with the new version, which is titled something a little more fitting, less bitter: “Broken Boy.”
I’ll re-master this new version for release all around once I’ve decided whether it goes together with some other pieces that I’ve now finished, in which case it’ll be on Ba.Ren.Chi’s fourth EP in the relatively new future. For now, it’s on Soundcloud.
